Firefighting is a very exciting and emotionally rewarding occupation. However, firefighting is very real, and can place you in very serious situations. Are you ready for the challenge?
New recruits with the BCFD are required to complete a 60 hour basic firefighting course before they are allowed to participate on the fireground. Over the next months and years you will be given hundreds of hours of training and as your training increases, so will your duties and activities as a firefighter. New recruits must be at least 18 years of age. A minimum age of 21 is required to drive and operate any BCFD owned vehicle or apparatus and only after completion of emergency vehicle operation training.
