The Blount County Fire Protection District (BCFPD) provides free safety training and awareness programs for local schools, churches, civic organizations, and businesses.
Programs for Schools (K-12)
In-Class Instruction: Age-appropriate safety lessons tailored to your grade level.
Outdoor Demonstrations: Firefighters will bring a truck to your school (schedule permitting) to demonstrate equipment and explain daily duties.
Home Safety Trailer: A mobile prop using theatrical smoke to teach children how to escape a house fire safely.
Station Tours: Host your group at a local fire station for a behind-the-scenes look at our operations.
"Hear-the-Beep" Community ServiceThis extra-credit "voluntary homework" assignment empowers students to save lives. Students call five contacts and ask them to test their smoke alarms while the student listens for the beep. If an alarm fails or is missing, BCFPD follows up with a courtesy call to assist the resident with a working alarm.
Programs for Organizations & Businesses
Fire Extinguisher Training: Learn to select and operate the correct extinguisher for different types of fires.
Fire Evacuation Training: We help your organization develop an evacuation plan and oversee practice drills.
Pre-Planning: BCFPD personnel will survey your commercial property to map out construction, contents, and utility shut-offs. This data is stored in our system with photos and drawings, ensuring faster response times and improved safety for firefighters during an emergency.
