LIFESTAR UT Medical Center; Knoxville

| In an average month, LIFESTAR, the aeromedical transport service for the UT Medical Center, tends to approximately 200 patients. Its helicopter fleet, including two Bell 430 helicopters, a Bell 206 L4, Bell 407, allows for faster travel—which increases a patient’s chance of survival—from between its bases and the accident scene. ERS&RFD operates as Station #4 in McMinn County. We provide rescue & fire suppression services for the area surrounding the City of Etowah. We are part of Task Force 3-4-11 (3 being Englewood RFD and 11 being Claxton Community VFD) to provide coverage for Eastern McMinn County. We were the first rural department in McMinn County to operate a Class A pumper. We now operate a 2009 Emergency One Typhoon, one of four purchased by the county last year.

In Knoxville we patrol approximately 516 lane miles of interstate with approximately 100,000 motorist passing through daily. We are trained and equipped to handle most traffic emergencies with ephisis placed on clearing traffic lanes of wreckage and debris.
